Have you noticed that colors hold energy? They can uplift your mood, soothe your emotions, or inspire you to action! The vibe you feel depends on the color intensity and color hue, and the size of the space you fill. They energy may be subtle or seem electrifying.
Green is the color in hospitals because it is a combination of bright and refreshing energy of yellow & the tranquil relaxation that blue mixes in. Restful and healing to the mind, body, and soul - all at the same time.
Pink is less bold than red, although still "red" in varying shades depending on the degrees of light in it - carnation pink versus cotton candy pink. Both are energy of Fire element and one is bolder than the other.
In Classical Feng Shui, there are the 5 natural elements and their color families. There are areas in your home where each energy flows best. You can decorate using the natural element itself, or use the color and shape that corresponds to the energy within the element to create balance in any environment.
Knowing the elements and the colors that reflect them will allow for mindful color combinations to create harmonious energy in every room.
For example, energetic qualities in rooms facing East and Southeast relates to natural elements of Spring and Wood - conveyed through the vibrations of blues, browns & greens. While the South area of your home is related to Summer and heat, or Fire - where it is best to use tones of red, orange, yellow, pinks and purple.
This serves as a basic primer only - to help you understand the basic principles of using elements and energy through materials and their respective color combinations. Of equal importance is understanding your own energy map, so you can mix your Chi with the Chi in any environment and create the most helpful and healthful environments.
